Bearcats Pounce on the Wildcats and Give Tribute to Ricky Snowden

Football is much like Life. It is a game of inches the lessons are all around us. While we have had some exciting fans there were very few that were like longtime supporter of the Ct Giants and The Ct Bearcats such as that as James"Ricky"Snowden. The Bearcat family lost Mr. Snowden June 5,2010. At Saturday's Game against Wocester 44 would forever be the number of James"Ricky" Snowden. The number was given as an honorary tribute to the Snowden family and will be removed from the lineup never to be worn again. Many things can be said about Mr. Snowden but one thing that will stand out in my mind as a player was that you could always pin point him in the crowd and you would listen to his advice no diferently than you would your coach. As evident in his children he did not only love football he lived football. James "Ricky" Snowden will always be the #1 Fan.

Defense came hungry on the field with likes of the secondary putting in work from whistle to whistle and playing solid football. The front line put the pressure on Wocester's Qb forcing him to throw 5 interceptions 3 which would lead to touchdowns by Sir Snowden, Al Will, and Defensive End stand out David Reese. Putting 21 on the board for the Bearcats by the defense alone.

As the fight went on and it seemed there would be opportunities for wocester to turn it around Bearcats offense would come out and fire away using Veterans like #88 tight end James Wish #9 J.Davis and power runninbacks as 22.Eric Brown and Anthony Avery. Eric Brown would rush 1 in on a straight dive for about 20 yards. Alternate Bearcats Qb #12 (former Ct Giant) would also punch in a score of a spin inside the red. CT Bearcats defeat Lowell 24-21

The long anticipated rematch from the 2009 Finals came early this year. When the Bearcats stepped on the scene in 2009 it was Lowell Nor Easter who was the team not the Bearcats. The Bearcats has much anticipated match ups during the season with teams like the Ct Thunder and The Ocean State Vipers but the Bearcats had to wait towards the end of the season to actually meet a team who was rich in history but had yet to win the title.

The Bearcats fell to Lowell in the regular season with hopes to meet again in the playoffs. The Bearcats did but this time it was in the Finals. It was heartache in Wallingford when the Bearcats returned without the ring.

2010 had not forgotten the matchup with lowell as it was evident in all four quarters of this game. Lowell even sported new uniforms which read "2009 champs" on their new jerseys. A constant reminder that the Bearcats did not complete the task. As the sound of the first whistle blew it was all business for both teams.

Lowell drew first blood by putting 7 on the board. Bearcats would follow with 3..Lowell with another score 14-3. Bearcats would comeback with yet another score 14-10. Lowell would score 21-10 . Bearcats would mount a defensive and offensive attack that proved to be too much for Lowell.

Even with penalties that plagued key plays the Bearcats had 5 turnovers which continued to give them opportunities to recover and finally win and avenge 2 losses from 2009. Bearcats win 24-21.

June 12th Marked the One for Fun Event held in Wallingford at Sheehan Highschool. Players , Family Friends and Fans came to partake in this event. While the weather seemed like it would not hold the sun shined bright and rain did not effect the event. Everyone there was able to share what Bearcats do best on the field and play football. There was a bounce room , ice pops and flag football.

Jamboree June 5th, 2010

While every year since A Ct Giant could remember the Jamboree has always been a great opportunity to mesh diferent teams and put them on the field for a round robin. Working from the goal line and inside the 20 as well as putting the defense out there to test their skills.

As much as I would want to continue to talk about the event it is difficult and at this time as a former player turned public relations coordinator I would like Thank all of the teams that came together as you can see above to say a prayer for the Snowden family. Long Island Tribe, Hudson Valley Cowboys, Western Mass Warriors....Thank you for your support during what is a tough situation. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Snowden family. The Ct Bearcats are raising funds to help the Snowden family with any unexpected costs that may be associated with the current situation. Mini camp Begins at Better Athlete Development for 4 weeks every Thursday $5 cover charge for this circuit training

April 17 and 24
QB camp at university of Bridgeport an ASM camp Sat mornings 10am-12 at 12:30pm Bearcat Basketball game til 3pm in the save gym after QB camp. Bearcat invitational open to the public.

May 1st,2010
Rookie tryouts closed try out No Veterans allowed .University of Bridgeport. $100 to tryouts. More for placement either New Haven Falcons or Bearcats. Both teams will play at the same field. That cost for this try out is then deducted from the $250 League fee.

May 3rd,2010 7pm
Mon-Wed-Sat practices at Wallingford
Returning players must pay $100 for registering but total is $150 so they will have a balance of $50.

June 6th,2010
Annual Jamboree at Sheehan High School and will feature the likes of Bearcats, Hudson Valley Cowboys Western Mass Warriors and the Ct Thunder.

Jamboree is deadline for Rookies and vets alike to fulfill their balance.

Nutmeg Bowl one for fun promo. Home game. Play 60 double header Featuring Bearcats and New Haven Falcons. Their opponents have not yet been disclosed

Lake George against yellow jackets 6pm game after game get on bus to Dave and busters. Retreat. One day trip. Get there by noon. Leukimia benefit game.

Shriner bowl MassConn at AIC in Springfield 10am. Captains of all teams will meet the kids at the Shriners hospital.
Brooklyn Bulldawgs vs Connecticut Bearcats 2pm second game Brooklyn Wolfpack vs. New Haven County Falcons(our Double A team).

Buying a ticket to the Shriners bowl will give people discounts to get into the Basket Ball Hall of Fame.

Bearcats Fan Blog Gets New Look!

The 2010 season brings about change and brings more players and more staff. While those changes are being made the fan blog should undergo some modifications too! For those that are frequent visitors some of the changes were easily noticeable. What have we added? We have added a text message alert. While most text message alerts are redundant and make you wish you never subscribed this will take away all those bad experiences that you may already get with email. The ad you see on the right will take you right to a message board, some of the alerts and member chats are posted there. At the Bottom of the page is the quick way to sign up and be a part of the Mobile Fan Club. The alert is only triggered by us who will be geared to giving you, the fan opportunities to meet players and know where the next venue will be. With that said this means you will not get an alert at 2am while you’re asleep. However the alert will notify you for our events in order to communicate if a game is cancelled due to inclement weather or let you know when we’ll be participating at an event and the details. The Chat board will also be used as a method for the fans to reach us and each other. At most the Alert Will be once a week when there is an upcoming event. For your entertainment a music player has been added to the bottom of the page so that you can enjoy music while reading new posts. In order to get the most of this player, type your favorite artist in the search bar of the music player and enjoy. There is a donation tab but it is not for/from the Connecticut Bearcats and we ask you reframe from donating since we do not have ties with Dizzler. Bearcats at Walter Camp Fan Fest 2010

Friday January 15th 2010 was an exciting way to kick off the weekend for football fans across the state. To briefly give you a little history Walter Camp was a pioneer in football. While we remember most of our recent Football heroes weather it be from up and coming college players, legends of Minor League or even NFL Hall of Famers Walter Camp helped make it what it is today. He originally played in the First Harvard-Yale Rugby game in 1876 that helped the sport evolve to where it is today. Along with the Entire Bearcats Coaching staff present and some of the Honorary guest were Bearcats D-Tackle Jay Dowdell, Wide Receiver Naciki Reid, O/D lineman Scarangelo and Linebacker Ricky Rivera. All were spending time signing autographs for the kids and helping them participate in a few pick up games of flag football for the kids. Naciki and Jay Dowdell played Qb for each team while Ricky Rivera Coordinated each teams defense. Reid and Dowdell were throwing the long ball down the field and issued this for Rich Snowden " I told the coaches I could play qb careful Rich"(just kidding). A few Notable Players that were there along with ESPN Radio were Man of the Year recipient John Elway (Stanford Graduate), Player of the Year Recipient and Heisman candidate Colt McCoy(University of Texas), Drew Butler punter for Georgia and Heisman candidate Toby Gerhart of Standford were among the Elite.

I Have the numbers crunched and here are some results thus far on the Grid Iron voting. Some of the Names here are currently affiliated with the Ct Bearcats or have been in some form such as the Spring Ct Ravens and or in the Past Ct Giants. Qb's 2 will be selected Kevin O'Berg- -currently Playing for the Hudson Valley Cowboys. Kev played for the Ravens last spring prior to being injured and worked out with the Bearcats before pursuing a fit with the cowboys. He currently holds 32% of votes for QB most votes than any of the positions for the classic. RB-FB 3 will be selected Justin Bledsoe #32 Rb for the Ct Ravens holding 4% off the votes. Lou Aboyoun #9 of the New Jersey Hawks holding down 22%. WR/TE 6 Will be selected Tony Lingard #11 for the Ct Ravens currently holds 2% off the votes Tony has a rich history with football in the Southern New England Area constantly looking to have new talent and push younger athletes. Jason Davis #9 aka "The Legend" an Impressive history too long to document currently with the Ct Bearcats heavy supporter of the Ct Ravens. He currently holds 1% of votes look for that to change! James Wish #88 also played along side Mr. Davis during his time as a Ct Giant and now a Bearcat as well. A solid Target to throw to he holds 1% of the votes. Ragile Sims - Hudson Valley Cowboys #1 currently leads the votes in this section with 16%. OL- 5 Will be selected Tim Asbell #70 Not only nominated but named Captain-Ambassador but a Brooklyn Mariner and a former Ct Giant. He recalls one of his most memorable games -The battle vs. Piranha at the Fish Bowl. He has an Impressive 17% of votes. Wayne Warsaw #74 for the Brooklyn Mariners not too far behind also a former Ct Giant holding 6% of votes Jeff Smith of the Ct RAvens #64 has 8% while teammate Peter Barnett #94 currently has 4%. DL-4 Will be Selected Rich Lafontaine #66 Defensive end for the Ct bearcats a former Ct Giant and impressive career leading him to back to back all star games in diferent leagues and earning a defensive mvp has 1% Art Green #55 of the Ct Ravens has 3% while Mark Ramirez stays close with 2% of the votes. Raymond Simmons #72 of the Ny Bandits leads with 10% of voting. LB- 4 Will be selected Rob Arias #2 of the Ct Ravens has 9% of votes DB/FS/SS - 6 Will be selected Jamar Rawles "Mr. Play of the Week" known for devasting returns and tight coverage currently #21 with the Ct Bearcats has 1% of votes with Sir Snowden #41 a former Southern Connecticut State Stand Out with great ups and punishing hits Also noted Todd Kennedy owner/player of the Ct Ravens working hard getting 7% off votes. Underestimated by every word due to his size but not afraid to let the offense know he's in the house. Also know as just TK he is #8 for the Ct Ravens who had an impactful 2009 spring and look to be make it known for 2010. Travis Jinx #9 of the Nassau Punishers holds the lead with votes at 8%. I was fortunate enough to run into General Manager, Bernie Armstrong! He is excited about the 2010 season and was kind to provide me with a few of these new calendar cards that fit perfect in your wallet and is good the whole year round. First Happy Holidays may everyone enjoy it Responsibly. As you can see on the blog after week 3 it was a bit difficult to keep up and play and mulitask life. The site was created in order to support to team as a booster club would so forth and so on. With that said I have uploaded the videos you already see here to youtube and am adding some good plays from this past season. While I don't have all the greatest some are just good team clips. There is a New World Order who will be a part of it? This is Video and some unseen shots from Week One. It was an exciting game for our home opener. The fans filled up the stands and the video will speak for itself. Week 2 was tough without Headcoach Aaron Hairston but the Coaches and the players worked together to pull off a victory over the Ct Thunder. It was a very physical game and the score speaks for itself 8-0. A big Congrats is also in order to Coach Hairston who recently became a father. Congratulations Coach Hairston! Thank you again for your support and we look forward to great postings. ONE TEAM, ONE GOAL! ~~Breaking News ~~ This week before the big Jamboree Coaches held a meeting to name captains. Prior to the start of practice on June 1st coaches unanimously named the following players: all star Wide receiver Jason Davis, All Star Defensive player MVP Courtney Southerland, QB Trevor Hairston and Defensive Lineman Jay Dowdell. The Ct bearcats will be hosting the jamboree Saturday June 6th 2009 at Central High School Kennedy Stadium. Show time is at 11:00 am and will have members from the community assisting through the event. To add the venue is FREE and open to the public. The Bearcats encourage the fans to come out and be a part of this event as this site will be looking for feedback from the fans.The CT Bearcats will be playing the regular season at Sheehan High School based out of Wallingford,Ct so there is no telling when the Bearcats will be able to showcase in Bridgeport again . There will be a concession stand to purchase drinks and food. The Connecticut Bearcats will be joined by the Hudson Valley Cowboys of the Big North East Football Federation, the New York Bandits former Champions of the Eastern Football Alliance and the Long Island Tribe of the Regional Atlantic Football League. This will not carry on like any regular controlled scrimmage each team will select players to represent the team in other mini competitions. These players will compete in the Fastest Man Competition, QB Challenge, 30 Yard Tire Flip, Kicker’s Challenge and a 7-man tug of War all sponsored by Topballerz.net.
